VHS is an atmospheric electronic track by Morpher, exploring nostalgia, memory and the strange feeling of moving through time.
There was a time when memories lived on magnetic tape.
Old VHS cassettes, video tapes, worn-out cases and recordings of ordinary moments became small physical containers for the past. A birthday. A family holiday. A room that no longer looks the same. Faces that have changed. Places that may no longer exist.
The tape could be played again, but the moment itself could never return.
VHS explores this strange relationship between memory and time — the desire to rewind, to return to a moment that has already disappeared, even though the machine keeps moving forward.
The visual journey moves through the textures and imperfections of the VHS era: static, tracking errors, faded colours, distorted images and fragments of forgotten memories. Familiar scenes slowly become dreamlike, as if the recording itself is struggling to remember what happened.
A strange question begins to emerge.
What exactly is time?
Is it something moving forward, carrying everything with it? Or is time simply our way of experiencing change?
Momentum carries everything forward, yet memory allows us to travel backwards.
We can rewind a tape.
We can replay a photograph.
We can remember a voice.
We can return to a place in our minds.
But the original moment remains unreachable.
Perhaps a memory is its own kind of time machine — a ripple from the past continuing to move through the present.
VHS is a meditation on nostalgia, technology, memory and the impossible direction of time. A journey through the feeling of looking backwards while everything around us continues moving forward.
A hypnotic meeting point between ambient, IDM and experimental electronic music, exploring memory, perception, time and the strange spaces between what happened and what we remember.
VHS is part of the album Momentum — a collection exploring movement, energy, perception and the invisible forces that carry things forward.
